      Gr 1-3-Baron Von Bubbles, also known as Bub the Pug, is back-this time as a budding sports star. When his owner Bella discovers his talent for shooting a small basketball into a hoop, she starts a training camp to teach other dogs the trick. Initially, Bub enjoys making Bella happy. However, when she invites the whole neighborhood to watch him perform, stage fright takes over, and he not only misses the shot but also lets out an embarrassing toot, making the moment even more awkward. The lined-paper aesthetic, combined with cartoon illustrations and speech bubbles, gives the book a diary-like feel that is easy for kids to follow. This is a lighthearted, silly story that children will love. VERDICT A must-have, especially for libraries where the "Diary of a Pug" series is popular.
